Cifradex-i (Ciprofloxacin & Dexamethasone)

What is Cifradex-i Used For?

Cifradex-i (Ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone) otic is used for the treatment of outer ear infections in adults and children and acute (suddenly occurring) middle ear infections in children with ear tubes. It is a quinolone antibiotic.

Active ingredient: Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone.

How Does Cifradex-i work?

Dexamethasone is in a class of medications called corticosteroids and the combination of ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone works by killing the bacteria that cause infection and reducing swelling in the ear.

Cifradex-i Dosage

Cifradex-i comes as an ear drop to be placed into the ear usually used twice a day, in the morning and evening, for 7 days.

How to use Cifradex-i

Use Cifradex-i at around the same times every day.
Follow the directions written on the medication label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Use Cifradex-i exactly as directed by your physician
Do not use more or less of Cifradex-i ear drop or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
It should only be used in the ears. Do not use Cifradex-i in the eyes.
Warm the solution by holding the bottle for 1-2 minutes in your hand. Shake well.
Lie down with the affected ear up. Carefully place the prescribed drops into your ear without touching the tip of the ear, fingers, or surfaces.
For middle ear infections, push the tragus inward four times.
Stay lying down with the ear up for 60 seconds.
Repeat these steps for the opposite ear if needed.
