Maxitrol Eye Drop is a combination antibiotic and steroid medicine that is used for the treatment of eye inflammation caused by uveitis, eye injury, radiation, chemical burns, or certain other conditions. Maxitrol Eye Drop is used when there is a risk of bacterial infection in or around the eye.

How Maxitrol Eye Drop Work

Maxitrol Eye Drops is a sterile eye drop that contains dexamethasone, neomycin, and polymyxin B as the active ingredients. Neomycin and Polymyxin B are both antibiotic agents while Dexamethasone is a type of cortisone and belongs to the group of medicines called corticosteroids. Maxitrol eye drop has a dual effect which is the suppression of inflammation symptoms by the corticosteroidal component dexamethasone, and an anti-infective effect due to the presence of two antibiotics, polymyxin B and neomycin.

Maxitrol Eye Drop Dosage

Apply one or two drops of Maxitrol eye drop to each affected eye (in the conjunctival sac) up to six times daily or, more frequently if required.
