Bexilin HFA inhaler is used for the relief of bronchospasms in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease and relaxation of uterine smooth muscles to delay threatened abortion.

How Does Bexilin HFA Inhaler Work?

Bexilin has salbutamol, a beta2-agonist like isoprenaline but lasts longer. It stimulates beta2-receptor cells in the bronchioles and uterus, with minimal heart stimulation and no hypertension.

Bexilin HFA Inhaler Dosage

Adults:

Relief of acute bronchospasm and managing intermittent asthma episodes: Take one or two puffs as a single dose.
Chronic maintenance or prophylactic therapy: Take two puffs three or four times daily.
Prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm: Take two puffs before exertion, at least 15 minutes before.

Children:

Relief of acute bronchospasm, management of episodic asthma, and prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm: Administer one puff as a single dose (only by medical professionals).
Routine maintenance and prophylaxis: Use one puff three or four times daily, increasing if needed to two puffs three or four times daily.
Elderly: The dosage is the same as for adults.

Bexilin HFA Inhaler Precaution

Avoid in patients allergic to the drug or with thyrotoxicosis.

Use with caution in conditions like cardiac disease, hypertension, diabetes, glaucoma, seizures, hyperthyroidism, exercise-induced bronchospasm, prostatic hypertrophy, especially in elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding, and children.
The inhaler, a pressurized canister, must be kept away from sunlight and heat. Never puncture, break, or burn, even if seemingly empty.
