Use one to three 500mg suppositories a day with the last dose at bedtime.

How to use Asacol 500mg suppositories

Asacol 500mg suppository should be inserted into the back passage (rectum) as described below:

•          If necessary, empty your bowels, and wash your hands.

•          Unwrap the anusol suppository.

•          Squat or bend forward then gently but firmly, place the suppository (pointed end first) into your rectum (back passage).

•          If necessary, you have to grease the tip of the suppository with petroleum jelly.

•          Then wash your hands again

•          Do not empty your bowels for at least an hour after inserting the suppository.

What are the possible side effects of Asacol 500mg Suppositories?

Common side effects of Asacol 500mg suppositories include;

•          Diarrhoea

•          Abdominal pain

•          Nausea (feeling sick)

•          Headache.

Asacol 500mg suppositories Precautions

•          Do not use Asacol 500mg suppositories if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in the product (see Section 6 on “What Asacol Suppositories contain”).

•          People that are allergic to aspirin or any other salicylate should consult with the doctor before using Asacol 500mg suppositories.

•          People with kidney problems or blood abnormalities while taking other medicines such as sulphasalazine should not take Asacol 500mg suppositories

•          Do not take Asacol 500mg suppositories if you have confirmed severe kidney impairment

•          Do not give Asacol 500mg suppositories to children under 2 years of age.

Is Asacol 500mg suppositories safe to use by Pregnant and Breastfeeding mothers?
