Amoxil Syrup Uses

Amoxil syrup is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract.

Amoxil Syrup Ingredients

Active: Amoxicillin trihydrate for oral suspension 200mg/5 mL and 400 mg/5 mL (reconstituted) are bubble-gum flavored pink suspensions.

Inactive ingredients: Sucrose, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, FD&C Red No. 3, xanthan gum,  edetate disodium, bubble-gum flavor, and colloidal silicon dioxide.

How Amoxil Syrup Works

Amoxil syrup contains Amoxicillin which is a penicillin-like antibiotic that works by killing the bacteria that causes these infections. Amoxicillin will not work for viral infections (such as the common cold, and flu).

Amoxil Syrup Dosage

Take Amoxil syrup by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours for 7 to 14 days

How to use Amoxil Syrup

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before each dose.
  • Use a specialized measuring device/spoon to measure the dose accurately; avoid using a household spoon.
  • Take this medication orally, with or without food, following your doctor’s instructions, typically every 8 or 12 hours.
  • Add the measured dose to formula, milk, juice, water, or ginger ale just before consumption; ensure you finish the entire mixture for the complete dose.
  • Avoid pre-mixing for future use.
  • Stay hydrated unless advised otherwise by your doctor. Maintain consistent intervals between doses for optimal antibiotic effectiveness.
  • Take the medication at the same times daily to aid in remembering. Continue until the prescribed amount is fully consumed, even if symptoms alleviate early.
  • Abruptly stopping the medication may allow bacterial growth, leading to a recurrence of the infection.
