Actelsar HCT is a medication that is administered in adults who have high blood pressure. This medication contains two active substances, Telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide, and is often prescribed when Telmisartan alone is not effective in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).

Telmisartan belongs to a group of medications known as Angiotensin-II-receptor antagonists. They work by inhibiting the action of the hormone called Angiotensin II which narrows the blood vessels. Telmisartan allows the blood vessels to widen.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. Diuretics help to reduce the amount of fluid in the blood and reduce the blood pressure by increasing urine output.
