What is Linagliptin?

It is a medication used in the treatment of diabetes. It works by inducing an increase in the level of natural substances that help to control blood sugar, and reduce sugar production by the liver. It is available on Drugstore Nigeria, Nigeria’s Largest Online Pharmacy.

Composition

It has Metformin and Linagliptin as its active ingredients.

Uses

Precautions

Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery while using this drug, as you may experience drowsiness, dizziness or blurry vision as side effects due to low or high blood sugar.

Interactions

Linagliptin may interact or interfere with the effect of other drugs. Examples of drugs that may cause interactions with this drug, and should not be used alongside linagliptin are as follows; Antibiotics like Rifampin, Asthma drugs, Blood sugar drugs, Heart drugs, Cholesterol drugs, Heartburn drugs, Nasal congestion drugs, Contraceptive or birth control pills, Thyroid drugs, Seizure drugs, Allergy drugs, Low blood pressure drugs and Corticosteroids.

Contraindications

Linagliptin should not be used to treat type 1 diabetes or ketoacidosis. It is contraindicated in patients who suffer from Hepatic or renal diseases, pancreatitis, vitamin B12 deficiency, alcohol use disorder, and those with a history of heart failure or heart attack.
