What is Flunoc?
Flunoc Capsule is used for the treatment of the fungal infection of the vagina (also called, vaginal candidiasis). Flunoc’s active ingredient is fluconazole, which belongs to the antifungal drug class and is used to treat infections caused by fungi. This medication prevents the formation of an enzyme (ergosterol), which is needed for the synthesis of the fungal cell wall.
What is Flunoc used for?
This medication is used to treat genital yeast infection – vaginal (women) or foreskin (men) fungal infection. The most common cause of fungal infections is a yeast called Candida. Vaginal yeast infections caused by Candida are characterised by pruritus, swelling and redness of the vaginal mucosa and granular vaginal discharge that sticks to mucosa. The symptoms are similar with foreskin yeast infection (balanitis) (pruritus, redness and sometimes soreness).
Flunoc is also used to treat fungal infections of the mouth, throat, and pharynx, to treat brain and spinal cord infection (cryptococcal meningitis) in AIDS patients, to prevent fungal infection in patients receiving radiation therapy and chemotherapy for bone marrow transplantation, to treat urinary tract infection, to treat inflammation of the membrane that covers abdominal organs (peritonitis), and to prevent fungal infection in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation (candidal balanitis).
Flunoc with food and drink
Flunoc absorption is unaffected by food. The drug can be taken before, after, and during meals.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
Before taking this drug, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or suspect you might be pregnant, or intend to have a kid.
Flunoc can not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor has explicitly advised you to do so.
Flunoc’s active ingredient, fluconazole, is excreted in human milk, so it’s not a good idea to take it while breastfeeding.
Flunoc possible side effects
Flunoc, like most drugs, can cause side effects, but not everyone experiences them.
Serious life-threatening effects
If you have a serious allergic reaction to the drug, stop taking it immediately and contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital’s emergency department, as you will need immediate medical attention. T

Anaemia, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, drowsiness, convulsions, dizziness, paraesthesia,yellowing of the skin, pruritus, hives, increased sweating, toxic skin rash due to medications, muscle pain, tiredness, feeling ill, weakness, fever. changes in ability to taste, dizziness, constipation, indigestion, flatulence, dry mouth, cholestasis.
Dosage
Flunoc dosage
Adults should take 150 mg in a single dose. With a glass of water, swallow the capsule without chewing. Within three days after receiving medication, if the symptoms have not subsided or have worsened, see a doctor. If the yeast infection reappears more than twice in the six months following treatment, see a doctor.
Elderly
The usual adult dose should be given.
Patients with kidney problems
The regular adult dose should be given.
