Description
Artificial tears are another name for hypromellose eye drops. They are used to treat eye dryness and pain, especially when the dryness is caused by a decrease in tear production. They hydrate, soothe, and lubricate your eye’s surface, making it more comfortable.
Prescription drops are available, or you can buy them from a pharmacy without a prescription.

Dosage
Use the drops three or four times each day, or more frequently if necessary.
If your vision gets blurry after using the drops for a short period, do not drive until you can see properly again.
Direction For Use
Before you use the drops, make sure you wash your hands well.
Take off the bottle’s cap (or the tip of the unit if you are using a single-use dose unit).
To make a pocket, tilt your head back and pull the bottom lid of your eye downwards.
Hold the bottle (or single-use dosing unit) near your eye, upside down. As you do this, try not to contact your eye.
Apply sufficient pressure to allow one drop to enter your eye. Some brands will require a gentle squeeze of the bottle, while others will only require a gentle press on the bottle’s base to release a drop; for further information, consult the manufacturer’s information leaflet included with the drops. for about a minute
Only use a second drop if the first one missed going into your eye.
Close your eyes for a minute or two.
Repeat the process in your other eye if you have been told to use the drops in both eyes.
Replace the cap (or if you are using the single-use dose unit, throw it away).
