Cafergot is a combination medication used to treat or prevent certain types of headaches (vascular headaches including migraine and cluster headaches). Headache pain in the body can sometimes be caused by widened blood vessels in the head.
Cafergot ingredient
Cafergot tablets contain 1 mg ergotamine tartrate and 100 mg caffeine as active ingredients.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients include; Tartaric acid; magnesium stearate; talc; maize starch, cellulose and iron oxide yellow (E 172).
How does Cafergot tablet work
Cafergot works by constricting blood vessels, returning them to their normal size, to stop migraine attacks. It is intended solely for the treatment of active migraine episodes and is not used for preventing future attacks. It’s important to note that Cafergot is not suitable for all types of headaches and should be avoided for specific ones.
Cafergot tablet Dosage
- Adults:Take 2 tablets of Cafergot at the first sign of a migraine headache.
- If the headache persists take an additional tablet every 30 minutes up to a maximum tablet of 6 tablets in one day.
- Do not exceed the maximum of 6 tablets in a single day or ten tablets in one week.
