Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients, as well as those who suffer from paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria, haemosiderosis, haemochromatosis, repeated blood transfusions, active peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, hypervitaminosis and regional enteritis. It should not be used in the treatment of anaemias other than those caused by iron deficiency.
Precautions
The duration of the treatment of anaemia caused by uncomplicated iron deficiency should not exceed 6 months. Long term use of Plexitone syrup may increase the risk of dental caries. Plexitone tonic should not be used alongside other vitamins and supplements except under medical supervision. Do not take this medication on an empty stomach.
Interactions
Some drugs and products that interact with and should not be used alongside Plexitone tonic include; Dimercaprol, Ciprofloxacin, Entacapone, Levodopa, Bisphosphonates, Levofloxacin, Levothyroxine, Moxifloxacin, Mycophenolate, Norfloxacin, Ofloxacin, Zinc, Trientine, Chloramphenicol, Calcium and Magnesium salts.
