Description
Citalopram is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is used to treat major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and social phobia. The antidepressant effects may take one to four weeks to occur, it may also improve your energy level and feelings of well-being as it works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.
Dosage
The tablets come in different strengths ranging from 10mg to 40mg. The usual dosage of citalopram is 20mg a day in adults. For people over 65, or if you have liver problems, the maximum recommended dose is 20mg a day.
The usual dose of citalopram for children is 10mg a day. For liquid drops of citalopram, 4 drops are equivalent to a 10mg tablet
Who can and cannot take Citalopram?
Citalopram can be taken by adults and children over the age of 12 years.

What are the most common side effects of Citalopram?
Common side effects include nausea, trouble sleeping, sexual problems, shakiness, feeling tired, and sweating. Serious side effects include an increased risk of suicide in those under the age of 25, serotonin syndrome, and glaucoma.

Citalopram is an SSRI antidepressant, which is commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.
Is it better to take Citalopram in the Morning or Night?
