What is carbimazole?
Carbimazole is a medication containing active ingredient of the same name. Carbimazole is prescribed in conditions where thyroid function reduction is required such as in hyperthyroidism.
What is the dosage for carbimazole?
For adults, the starting dosage ranges from 20 – 60 mg taken as divided doses, 2-3 times daily. The dosage of carbimazole is usually determined against thyroid function until normal thyroid function is achieved and to reduce the risk of overtreatment resulting in hypothyroidism.
