What is Carbiroid Used For?

How Does Carbiroid Work?

Carbiroid works by blocking an enzyme that the thyroid gland uses to produce its hormones. When this enzyme is blocked, the production of thyroid hormones slows down, which helps control the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. It doesn’t stop the gland entirely—it just brings it back to a healthy level.

Carbiroid Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults is between 20mg to 60mg per day, divided into two or three doses.
Once your hormone levels start to normalize, the doctor may reduce the dose to a maintenance level—usually around 5mg to 15mg per day.
Children and teenagers may be prescribed different amounts based on their needs.

How Quickly Does Carbiroid Work?

You may start feeling better within 1 to 3 weeks after starting treatment, but it can take 4 to 8 weeks for your thyroid hormone levels to fully come down to normal. It’s important to take the tablets every day as prescribed, even if you feel better, to keep your hormone levels stable.
