World ToothAche Day- How to Prevent Toothache

Toothache Day is celebrated on the 9th of February every year. Here are a few things you can learn about Toothache;

Toothache is an infection, bacterial in origin, that causes breakdown of minerals and destruction of the hard tissues, usually by production of acid by bacterial fermentation of the food debris accumulated on the tooth surface.

The severity of a toothache can range from mild discomfort to excruciating pain, which can be experienced either chronically or sporadically. This pain can often be aggravated somewhat by chewing or by hot or cold temperature.

Good oral hygiene practices that can help prevent toothache include;

  1. Brushing regularly with a fluoride-containing toothpaste;

2. Flossing once daily, rinsing once or twice a day with an antiseptic mouthwash,

3. Seeing your dentist twice a year for professional cleaning.

4. Eating foods low in sugar
