What is Canesten HC cream?
Canesten hydrocortisone clotrimazole cream is a dermatological medication containing 10mg clotrimazole and 11.2 mg hydrocortisone acetate per gram of cream. Canesten HC cream is used in treating infections caused by candida albicans, candida vulvitis, candida balanitis, candida intertrigo, yeast infections, trichophyton species, molds, and other fungi.
How do I use Canesten HC cream?
Canesten HC cream should be thinly and evenly applied over the affected area for a period not exceeding 7 days.
Special warnings for using Canesten HC cream
Due to hydrocortisone which is a corticosteroid, Canesten HC cream should not be applied in:
• In long term use
• Under covering dressing such as bandages or plaster
• To areas larger than 5 to 10% of the body.
This product may cause damage to latex contraceptives, thus limiting their effectiveness. You should consider using other effective contraceptive methods whiles using this medication.
What ingredients are in Canesten HC cream?
The active ingredient in Canesten HC cream is hydrocortisone and clotrimazole.
Other components include benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, medium-chain triglycerides, tricetheareth-4-phosphate, purified water, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid.
Cetostearyl alcohol may cause skin irritation during use.
Can Canesten HC cream be used for thrush?
Canesten HC cream will only relieve external symptoms of vaginal thrush such as itching, soreness, and inflammation
