What is Clofenac SR used for?

Clofenac SR 100 mg (Diclofenac slow release tablet) tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain associated with conditions like gout, migraine, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains of muscles and joints in mild to moderate fever in some cases. 

Uses of Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet 

Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to treat symptoms like swelling, pain, and stiffness of joints associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. 

Osteoarthritis: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to treat symptoms like tender and painful joints associated with Osteoarthritis. 

Ankylosing Spondylitis: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to treat symptoms like stiffness and pain associated with Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Dysmenorrhea: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to relieve excessive pain and cramps during menstruation.

Mild to moderate pain: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to relieve pain of sprains, strains, sports injuries etc.

Migraine: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to relieve acute pain in migraine. Bursitis: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to relieve swelling and pain in joints caused by the inflammation of the bursae. 

Tendinitis: Clofenac R 100 MG Tablet is used to relieve pain and swelling associated with the tissue connecting the muscle and bones

Is Diclofenac a strong painkiller?

Diclofenac is a strong painkiller and is considered more effective NSAID than ibuprofen. It is found to be more potent than Ibuprofen for arthritic pain relief.

Does Diclofenac make you sleepy?

Though it is uncommon, when taking diclofenac, some people can experience fatigue, dizziness, or sleepiness. They may even have problems with their vision.

Is Diclofenac good for muscle pain?

Diclofenac is a medication that is used to treat pain and swelling (inflammation) caused by a variety of mild to moderate painful conditions. Muscle aches, backaches, tooth discomfort, menstrual cramps, and sports injuries are also treated with it. It also relieves arthritis-related discomfort, swelling, and joint stiffness.

Can Diclofenac damage kidneys?

Diclofenac and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) cause the kidney to lose the ability to produce  protective hormones, called prostaglandins which protects the kidney from stress and this  can lead to kidney damage over time. In some people, this harm can take years to manifest, and in others, it can manifest after only one dose.

Is Diclofenac good for back pain?

Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory medicine and an  active ingredient in Voltaren, effective at reducing back pain.

What are the side effects of the drug Diclofenac?

Common side effects associated with the use of Diclofenac include diarrhea, constipation; headache, dizziness, drowsiness; irregular lab tests; scratching, sweating; stuffy nose; high blood pressure; or swelling or discomfort in the arms or legs, Bloating, burning, cramping, or pain in the abdomen or stomach, belching, stools that are bloody or black and tarry, urine that is cloudy, a reduction in urine production or a decrease in  urine-concentrating ability,  experiencing indigestion, increased bleeding time, a rash or itchy skin.

Diclofenac vs Ibuprofen

Diclofenac is a more potent NSAID than ibuprofen and needs a prescription from your healthcare provider. Diclofenac is commonly given in 25 to 50 mg doses for arthritis, with a maximum daily dose of 150 mg. Ibuprofen is available in higher doses, ranging from 800 mg to 3200 mg a day. 

Dosage 

Dosage for Adult

Take 1 tablet daily. By supplementing with traditional tablets, the daily dose can be increased to 150 mg if required.

Dosage for Children

1-3 mg diclofenac per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into two doses.

Dosage for the elderly

In elderly or debilitated patients, the lowest effective dosage is recommended.
