Adenuric is the brand name for the medication, Febuxostat. Febuxostat is a drug used to treat gout as a result of high uric levels. Gout is associated with an excess of a chemical  called uric acid (urate) in the body.  In some people, the amount of uric acid builds up in the blood and may  become too high to remain soluble. 

Febuxostat is mostly recommended for people who cannot take Allopurinol, another gout medication.

How does a Gout attack happen?

When uric acid builds up in the blood and becomes too high to remain soluble, urate crystals may form in and around the joints and kidneys, and these crystals can cause sudden, severe pain, redness, warmth and swelling in a joint (known as a gout attack). 

How does Adenuric work?

Adenuric tablets work by reducing the uric acid levels. Taking Adenuric tablets once every day helps to stop crystals from building up, and over time it reduces symptoms. Keeping uric acid levels sufficiently low for a long enough period can also shrink tophi.

Adenuric can also be used to treat and prevent high blood levels of uric acid that may occur when you start to receive chemotherapy for blood cancers. It is recommended for use over a long period of time.

When is the best time to take Adenuric?

Adenuric is best taken in the morning. You can take this medication with or without food. Continue using this medication for the length of time prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist to prevent another gout attack.

Can Febuxostat cause kidney damage?

Anti-gout medications, Febuxostat and Allopurinol, have been found to increase the risks of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients.
